MALOY, IOWA CENTENNIAL HISTORY: 1887 - 1987

Family & Biographical Pages

ALBERT PAGE FAMILY

Albert PAGE was born in 1883 near Blockton, Iowa. He passed away in 1975, aged 92 years. He had been at the Clearview Home and was almost blind. Albert's parents were William and Evaline (ZIKE) PAGE.

December 28, 1904 Albert married Anna Marie COOPER of Caledonia. This young couple performed farm work with and among the SHAY families. Their home was west of where the grandson, George DAILEY, now [1987] lives and was framed with tall evergreens on the south side. No building exists there now. They lived ten years as neighbors to George and Carrie WARIN.

During these ten years, five children were born: Florence Leota, Harold, Callista, Gretta, Albert M. and William Elgin. Florence, Harold and Callie went to school at Maloy. Florence was one of the first students attending in 1911-12. At the end of the ten-year period, they moved from the community to the Clearfield area.

Clarence and Florence were killed in a car accident [August of 1961] while on a pleasure trip to Kansas.

In August of 1923 Florence married Clarence DAILEY of Benton. The PAGE family then resided in Benton. The DAILEYS first son, George, was born here and later a daughter, Lucy MAUDLIN who still lives in Ringgold County, was born.

Paul Leroy DAILEY, son of George and Alverta DAILEY was born September 1945, and died August 1987 at the age of 33 years.

After Paul's death the DAILEYS moved on to his farm, the former Maurice and Maxine CARR farm. George was also employed at the Co-op lumberyard in Creston at this time after leaving the trucking business [which he had operated out of Diagonal where they lived for some time]. In 1986 he continues to work at the Co-op and he and Alverta raise horses and hogs. Their son-in-law, David LYNCH, farms the land. The DAILEYS enjoy living close to their daughter Nancy and her family.
