MALOY, IOWA CENTENNIAL HISTORY: 1887 - 1987

Tribute to Maurice Carr

Sincerely written by Mrs. Bob Lynch

I never went to school under Mr. CARR. My association with him began when I, as a parent, had four children under his care on the bus routes. He worked with the Maloy, Delphos and Redding schools where the buses transported our children. I found him to be so very concerend for each child's welfare and so very fair in any action he had to take. We became great friends.

I consulted him...and Maxine about historical facts I was trying to establish concerning the Maloy area, and he was so helpful. And I felt so special when he stopped me on the street and said, "It's not for publication yet, but I wanted you and Bob to be among the first to know I've been chosen to be installed into the Iowa Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame." He couldn't have been more pleased. He couldn't have been more deserving.

So many area residents have made mention of how he helped to shape their lives as they grew under his supervision. I feel richer because he touched my life.

Maurice CARR'S coaching statistics are 241 wins, 66 losses at Maloy, and 188 and 32 losses at Redding High School. ~Iowa Boys' Basketball Coaches Career Records, IAHSAA

As a college student, he made the Men's Basketball All-Conference team in the 1933-34 and the 1934-35 seasons. ~ Des Moines Register State High School Boys' Basketball Stats
