ELIZABETH (HARTLEY) and WILLIAM GARARD FAMILY

William and Elizabeth (HARTLEY) GARARD were married in Greene County, Pennsylvania. They came to the Maloy area in 1875, at the time Samuel HARTLEY, Elizabeth's father, migrated from Pennsylvania to Maloy.

William was a descendant of the family for whom GARARD'S Fort, Pennsylvania was named.

William and Elizabeth were the parents of seven children: a set of twins, a boy and a girl who died at a very early age, Lenora, Samuel, J. C. (Corbly), Emaline and Joseph. They were all born in Greene County, Pennsylvania exept for Joseph, who was born in Maloy. William and Elizabeth established their home south of Maloy on a farm given to them by her father Samuel.

William D. GARARD was born January 22, 1942, and passed away April 10, 1906.

Elizabeth A. (HARTLEY) GARARD was born March 1, 1842, and passed away February 12, 1932.

Leona Lenora was born June 30, 1865, and passed away February 17, 1952. She was married to Judson E. BOWEN and they had two children, a boy and a girl.

Sam was born in 1868 and passed away in 1939. He was married to Rosa E. YARYAN and they had two children, a boy who died at an early age, and a daughter, Ferne, who was married to Harry DULANEY.

J. C. (Corb) was born October 13, 1870, and passed away December 3, 1915. Corb, as he was called, never married.

Emaline (Em) was born August 31, 1874, and passed away November 22, 1948. She was married to Raymer STEELE and they had six children, four girls and two boys.

Joseph T. GARARD was born January 6, 1879, and passed away December 13, 1915. He was married to Francis E. PROCTOR and they had a daughter, Vera, who died when she was one year old. Joe was a school teacher.

NOTES: Elizabeth A. (HARTLEY) GARARD was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1842, and died at the age of 89 years on February 12, 1932. Elizabeth and William D. GARARD were married in September of 1862. Elizabeth and William were interred at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy.

Samuel J. GARARD was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania in February of 1868, and died in 1939. Rosette "Rose" (YARYAN) GARARD was born in 1873 in Missouri, the daughter of William Bedell and Sarah H. (SAGE) YARYAN, and died in 1935. Their son Willie Burel was born in 1893, and died at the age of ten years on March 12, 1904. They were interred at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy.

James Corbly "Corb" GARARD was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania on October 13, 1870, and died at the age of 45 years on December 3, 1915. He was interrred at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy.

Joseph T. GARARD was born in Maloy on January 6, 1879, and died at the age of 36 years on December 13, 1915. Francis E. (PROCTOR) GARARD was born on August 1, 1881, the daughter of Merriman J. and Sarah Elizabeth (SKINNER) PROCTOR, and died at the age of 48 years on November 26, 1927. Vera E. GARARD was born in July of 1912, and died December 17, 1913. They were interred at Platte River Cemetery near Maloy.
