LYNDON NICHOLS FAMILY
Lyndon Dale NICHOLS and Lorraine LILES were married in September, 1942, and started farming with Lyndon's father, J.T.
NICHOLS. Lorraine contnued to teach in the Ringgold County, one-room school houses until their first daughter, Dianna
Lynne, was born in 1946. Their second daughter, Gay Annette, was born in 1948. The family lived on the home place
two miles west of Mount Ayr for seven years. January 1949, they moved to the Hugh WHITE farm on Platte River, north
of Maloy on Highway #2. The small daughters started to school in the Maloy schools. The Maloy vicinity was the NICHOL'S
home for seven years. They moved to the Leora STRACKBEIN farm west of Mount Ayr on Highway #2 in March of 1956. In
December 1964 Lyndon and Lorraine purchased the home place from Lyndon's parents, J.T. and Verda MORGAN NICHOLS. All
three daughers gradauted from Mount Ayr Community High School. Dianna has a B.S. and B.A. degree in management
information systems from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and is an associate systems analyist at Peoples Natural
Gas Compnay. She is married to Bill L. CAIN, owner of Heartland Realty Company. Bill and Dianna reside in Omaha,
Nebraska. Bill has two daughters. Gay is a registered nurse who graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in
Des Moines. Gay is head of the homecare department at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa. She is married to
Edward J. HIGHTSHOE. He is a lineman wth Iowa Southern Utilities. They have twosons, Chad, 16, and Cory 13, and one
daughter, Stacy, 9. The HIGHTSHOES reside in Creston. Lori is a registered nurse who also graduated from Iowa
Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines. Lori is a surgical nurse at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. She is
married to Cory J. KUONEN, who operates Andy's Electric Motor Service in Diagonal, Iowa. They have a son, Christopher, 3,
and a daughter, Ashley, 1-year-old. The KUONENS reside in Creston. Lyndon passed away in May 1980.
Lorraine remained on the farm and continued their hog operations. Lorraine remarried in March 1983, to Daughn E.
REASONER of Ellston, Iowa. They resided on the farm west of Mount Ayr.
