The Paul Mobley Family

Paul Glee MOBLEY, son of Burl and Martena (VANDERPLUYM) MOBLEY, was born December 15, 1949. He started school in Benton, and graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1968. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.

On June 29, 1973, Glee and Janice Kay LARSON were united in marriage 1954, graduated from Clearfield High School in 1972. She is the daughter of Phillip William and Alberta Lee (TURNER) LARSON of Clearfield, Iowa.

Glee and Janice made their home on a farm west of Benton, where they still reside and farm. Glee also works at the Soil Conservation Service in Mount Ayr. Janice is employed at the Mount Ayr High School as an aide.

Glee and Janice are the parents of three children: Paul Wyatt, born May 19, 1974; Elaine Dawn, born December 15, 1975; and Melonie Lynn, born September 6, 1979.

The Albert Mobley Family

Albert and Maudie MOBLEY moved to Iowa in 1928, to a farm west of Benton. They had four children. Alberta married Delmar Van WINKLE of Clearfield, Iowa. Denzel married Darlene GAULE of Clearfield, Iowa. Hazel married Robert LAUGHLIN of Grant City, Missouri. Burl married Martena VANDERPLUYM of Diagonal, Iowa.

Albert died in 1940, and Maudie died in 1968. They are buried at Grant City, Missouri. Denzel passed away in 1975. He is buried at Clearfield, Iowa.

The Burl Mobley Family

Burl was born to Albert and Maudie (GARRETT) MOBLEY on August 27, 1923, at Grant City, Missouri. He attended school at Benton and Maloy, Iowa. On January 24, 1947, he married Martena VANDERPLUYM, daughter of Louis and Lizzie VANDERPLUYM, at Maloy, Iowa.

Martena attended country school in Lincoln Township married. Burl and Martena still live on a farm one and one-half miles west of Benton, Iowa.

Burl farmed and drove a school bus for twenty years, from 1957 to 1977. Martena was postmaster at Benton from May of 1960 to November of 1976. She transferred to Redding, Iowa, where she is still postmaster. Burl and Martena had two sons: Paul Glee, born December 15, 1949; and Ronald Lee, born February 28. 1951.

The Ronald Mobley Family

Ronald Lee MOBLEY, son of Burl and Martena MOBLEY, was born Feburary 28, 1951. He lived his entire childhood on a farm west of Benton. He attended elementary school attended Northwest Missouri State University, Missouri, for one and one-half years.

On January 23, 1971, Ron married Monica Sue SIVERLY, daughter of Fred and Virginia SIVERLY from Clearfield, Iowa, in the Immaculate Conception Church in Maloy, Iowa. Ron and Sue lived in Maryville, Missouri until June of 1971, when they moved back to the family farm west of Benton. Ron has farmed and operated a bulldozer for the past fourteen years.

Ron and Monica have three children: Gregory Lee, born August 25, 1971; Brian John and Marci Sue, twins, born February 12, 1974.
