Benton Centennial 1887 - Benton, Iowa - 1987
The Haley-Garrett Family
I lived in Benton, then I went to Maloy, then back to Benton, and then to Mount Ayr, where I graduated in 1969. I started to work
at the Mount Ayr cap factory after graduating from school, and worked there about two and one-half years. I married
Ernest Mark GARRETT, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark GARRETT of Diagonal, Iowa, on May 1, 1970, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Ernie
graduated from Diagonal in 1964. He went into the Navy on August 31, 1965, and served three years. He spent time at
Iceland and eighteen months on ships. After returning home, he got a job at Farmer's Co-Op in Creston, iowa. He has
worked there seventeen years. We have four daughters: Stacy Jo, born August 15, 1971; Tabitha Gale, born January 17,
1973; Courtney Jane, born September 25, 1975; and Winter Ashley GARRETT, born October 25, 1979. All were born in
Mount Ayr, Iowa. We have lived in Diagonal, Iowa for sixteen years. ~ Mary Jane HALEY GARRETT
