The Frost Family
Esther Louise GROVES, second child of Carl Ellsworth GROVES and Lora Iona STACY GROVES, was married on April 11, 1953 to Lyman
Dean FROST, son of Ray Raymond FROST and Bernice Laverta FOLAND FROST. Louise was born and raised near Benton and
attended school all twelve years in Benton, graduating with the class of 1949. Dean was born near Ellston, later moving
to north of Diagonal and finally to Mount Ayr, where he completed his education, graduating with the class of 1951.
Two daughters were born of this marriage: Sandra Kay (Sandy) on March 14, 1954, and Deanna Lynne (Dee Dee) on November 29,
1956. They also opened their home to two foster children in June of 1970: a sister and brother, Janet Lee PACKWOOD and
Mark Edward PACKWOOD. Janet resided with the FROSTS two years and Mark four years, until their graduation from high
school. Dean and Louise and daughter Sandy resided near Benton from the spring of 1955 to early 1956 while Dean was
employed by Keith COLE at the Benton Station, which was located at the Benton turn-off from Highway 2. They moved to
Mount Ayr where Dean was employed by Dugan Conoco Station and where Dee Dee was born. He worked there for seven years,
then began working for Gerold's Plumbing and Heating, and stayed there four years before becoming a self-employed
carpenter. He continues in this work today. Louise spent the early years of her marriage as a housewife and mother
and working part-time at the A.S.C.S. office. In 1959, she became a full-time employee at the same office and continues
there at this time. Dean and Louise are the grandparents of Tracey Jo and Ryan Dean BRECKENRIDGE, children of Sandy;
and Amber Marie and Jennifer Lynne, children of Dee Dee. ~ Louise GROVES FROST
