Donald married [1948] Betty Jo McANINCH of Mount Ayr, and after completing college, Donald worked for a lumber company as an assistant manager, and Betty taught school. Both are retired and live in Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the parents of a daughter, Sharon.

Sharon married Kenneth WRIGHT and they are the parents of two daughters, Heather and Becky. Both children are students in school.

NOTE: Donald Vernon BARKER served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. He died at the age of 81 years on January 8, 2000, Las Vegas, Nevada, and was interred at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
