David Carl GROVES, son of Carl and Iona GROVES, was born July 28, 1949, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He was raised in Benton, and graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in 1967. He worked in Des Moines, Iowa until 1969, when he joined the U.S. Army and served until 1972,part of the time being spent in Germany. Betty Lou BROWN, daughter of Dale and Thelma BROWN of Clearfield, Iowa, was born October 5, 1953. She graduated from Clearfield Community High School in 1971, and attended Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa.

David and Betty Lou were married in Mount Ayr in 1972. They have two children, Aaron David and Tara Jean. They lived in Benton where David was employed by Elliott Farms until 1982. They now reside in Mount Ayr. David works for SCHLAPIA, Inc. in Diagonal.
