Benton Centennial 1887 - Benton, Iowa - 1987
Charles and Blanche Golliday
"Aunt Blanche and Uncle Chuck," as we of the Benton community affectionately called them, lived all their adult lives
in our community. Aunt Blanche and Uncle Chuck were not blessed with children, so they "adopted" the children of Benton.
Uncle Chuck always had the time to take a child for a ride with the old team and wagon, time to look a the new calf or
cuddle the baby chicks, and admire the little pigs. In his later years, he had the time to just sit and talk. Aunt
Blanche
taught a Sunday school class for many years. She helped care for us, loved and cared for our children, and when she
passed away, was helping care for our grandchildren. Aunt Blanche always asked, "What can I do to help?" We, of
the Benton community, miss "Aunt Blanche and Uncle Chuck." ~ Dorothy DALTON MATTHEWS
