The Bucy Family
In March of 1940, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy (Dick) BUCY and their twin son and daughter, LeRoy, Jr. and Leona, moved to the farm
south of Benton, known as the THARP place, which they had purchased. They came to Benton from Wolbach, Nebraska. They
farmed there until they retired in 1957 and moved to Diagonal. Their daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Marvin BROWN and
family, lived on the farm until 1959.
November of 1966, when they moved to Creston. After they moved, the farm was sold to the GRAHAM brothers. The BUCYS
were members of the Benton Methodist Church and the Rebekah and Odd Fellows' Lodges. Mr. BUCY also served on the school
board for several years. Mrs. BUCY'S daughter from an earlier marriage, Doris Jean ANDERSON, lived with them for a time.
She later married Chester WALLACE.
NOTE: LeRoy BUCY, Sr. was born in 1891, and died in 1973. He married Anna M. on April 12, 1929. Anna
M. BUCY was born in 1892, and died in 1975.
Avis "Maxine" GROVES, the daughter of Carl and Iona (STACY) GROVES,
was born on January 3, 1931, and married LeRoy BUCY, Jr. on January 26, 1951. She died on July 6, 2010.
Doris
Jean ANDERSON WALLACE was born in 1924, and died in 1961. Chester WALLACE was born in 1898, and died in 1975.
They were interred at Benton Cemetery.
