Sheumaker Family Reunion

The decendants of Roy B. SHEUMAKER Sr. and Goldia Belle SPENCER SHEUMAKER renited on June 26, 2010 at the Grant City [Missouri] Skating Rink/Community Center. It was organized by their granddaughter, Isabelle ABARR, and hosted by their daughter, Eunice (SHEUMAKER) JONES. Seventy-six family members were in attendance. A lunch was served by members of the Redding United Methodist Church.

Those in attendance by farmily grouping:

Roy's great-niece, Amah Lou (BOYLES) SCHREIBER of Revere, MO and her family. Dr. Alan SCHREIBER and Tanya WOJTOWYCH. Drew and Julian of Pasco, WA, and Aaron SCHULTZ of Kansas City, MO. Amah Lou's family members were first-time attendees.

Isabelle ABARR of Des Moines. Jeanette (ABARR) INGRAM of Carrollton, TX. Russ ABARR of South Bend, IN. Andy ABARR of Oklahoma, OK. Weldon and Pam ABARR of Boone. Charles and Rebecca ABARR, Ian and Jasper of Redding and Jariah and Christine WALKER. Drake of Grimes;

Brian SHEUMAKER, Randy SHEUMAKER and Paden and John and Sharon SHEUMAKER, all of Des Moines.

Eunice JONES of Grant City, Mo, who had 28 in her family present, Tim JONES, Ashleigh and Jonathan MOSER, Landon, Olivia JONES and Charlotte JONES and friend Justin GREEN, all of Grant City, MO. Mike and Susan JONES of Lake Quivira, KS. Ryan and Alexis JONES of Kansas City, MO. Barry Biff and Linda JONES of Bethany, MO. Stefanie (JONES) MUSSER of Saint Joseph, MO. Brent and Heather JONES, Peyton, Cameron and Katelyn of McFall, MO;

Greg and Sarah JONES, Madeline, Grayson and Addison of Jefferson City, MO;

Margaret (SHEUMAKER) WOOD, Kaitlyn NOHRENBERG and Warren WOOD of Omaha, NE;

Frances (SHEUMAKER) SALTZMAN of Mount Ayr. Diane SALTZMAN, Adel;

Elizabeth (SHEUMAKER) THOMAS, Nicole CURRY, Macy and Collin, Brylee ANDERSON, Sydney and Tanner SPEED, Kyle VARNER and Sarah COLLINS, Jacob, Levi and Grace, all of Des Moines; Becky MENDOZA and Maddox of Urbandale;

Clinton and LaVon SHEUMAKER of Raymore, MO. Gary SHEUMAKER of Grandview, MO.

Of Roy and Goldia's 10 children, seven of their families were represented at this reunion, bringing four generations. their first great-great-great granddaughter, Baiya Nicole BATTINI, was born within this last year in October 2009. Baiya, of Des Moines, is also Elizabeth (SHEUMAKER) THOMAS' first grat-great grandchild and therefore is the very first person in the sixth generation of the SHEUMAKER family.

Grace before lunch was given by Amah Lou SCHREIBER. The program was planned and the mistress of ceremony was Eunice JONES. Original poems of Bernice ABARR were read by her grandsons, Ian and Jasper ABARR. Gary SHEUMAKER and Eunice JONES each read poems they had written. Barry Biff JONES shared part of his Native American rock and arrowhead collection.

Gary SHEUMAKER gave an overview of "Sheumaker A Family of Pioneers" authored by his brother, Craig SHEUMAKER, and his wife, Suzanne, of Jackson, CA, who researched and wrote an extensive history and family tree of the SHEUMAKER and SPENCER family reaching as far back as the 1500s and the Mayflower! Levi COLLINS played a piano solo, "Amazing Grace."

The farthest distance traveled was from Pasco, WA by the Dr. Alan SCHREIBER family, who also brought everyone bing cherries he grew on his farm in Washington state. The eldest person present was Frances SALTZMAN who will be 93 on July 26, while the younest person was Maddox MENDOZA who is 15 months.

Roller skating and swimming were enjoyed by the younger folks. An extensive and up-to-date SHEUMAKER family directory with a colorful cover was compiled, printed and distributed by Jeanette INGRAM.
