The 82nd annual OVERHOLTZER reunion was held Aug. 7 at the Tingley Community Building. David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER hosted the event. David is the son of Dwayne and Rosemary OVERHOLTZER and the grandson of Wayne and Ellen OVERHOLTZER.

The tables were beautifully decorated by Jim and Lila OVERHOLTZER in a patriotic theme using red, white and blue carnations.

David SCOTT returned thanks followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag led by Olivia OVERHOLTZER.

At 12:30 p.m. a wonderful dinner including roasting ears, homemade ice cream and a special cake decorated by Eileen OVERHOLTZER, was enjoyed by the 69 relatives and guests present.

Following dinner, David conducted the business meeting. Secretary-treasurer Jenesse TULL read the minutes and gave a treasurer's report. She was retained in office for another year. A collection was taken to cover expenses for another year.

As a result of his hard work, he and Suzanne were invited to a Christmas party at the White House. They were one of five couples from Iowa to attend. They also were invited to attend the inauguration in January and attended the Independence Ball after the inauguration. They had many pictures of themselves with George and Laura Bush and lots of stories to tell. Everyone was very proud of them.

Rosemary OVERHOLTZER brought bells and directed all the children in a bell chorus. Other talents enjoyed were fiddle solos by Christian and Christiana OVERHOLTZER, a piano solo by Olivia OVERHOLTZER, and a clarinet solo by Maddie OVERHOLTZER.

Prizes were awarded to Don OVERHOLTZER as the oldest person present, to Silvia POORE as the youngest person, and to Vickie SOWERS who had a birthday closest to Aug. 7.
