OVERHOLTZER FAMILY REUNION

The 87th OVERHOLTZER reunion was held at the Tingley community building on August 1, 2010. Hosts and hostesses were Joyce SCOTT and her family of Bolivar, MO. Tim SCOTT returned thanks to the Lord and 67 relatives and guests enjoyed the famous OVERHOLTZER potluck feast.

Following the meal, Joyce SCOTT and her family provided entertainment for all in attendance. David and Steve SCOTT performed the Hee Haw skit, That's Good! No, That's Bad!. Tim SCOTT then hissed in the pit while telling the story of Petey the Snake. Joyce SCOTT'S daughters, Vicki, Debbie, Becky and Lisa, sang a beautiful song entitled, What a Lovely Name.

Marie and Jack KENDALL gave a presentation with pictures about Marie's family, the "Fairview OVERHOLTZERS." Gerald LUCE explained his mountain dulcimer and then played Amazing Grace and I'll Fly Away.

John F. OVERHOLTZER reported to those assembled about the death of Grace OVERHOLTZER MILLIGAN. She was 106-years-old at the time of her passing. Grace was the author of the book of the OVERHOLTZER descendants, Christian OVERHOLTZER and His Father Jacob. Six extra copies of this book were found after her death and were offered to those who were interested.

Beverly POORE reported on the listing of Christian M. OVERHOLTZER'S descendants at the Iowa Genealogical Society. She had several pictures showing the listing. These pictures will be entered into the OVERHOLTZER reunion records.

Letters were passed around to be read and to be acknowledged from Richard and Joan OVERHOLTZER of San Jose, CA, and Donna HUDSON and Donna HEYER.

The minutes were read from last year's reunion and the treasurer's report was given. A hat was passed to acquire funds to help pay for next year's reunion.

Many door prizes were given. Jack and Marie KENDALL received the longest marriage prize - 57 years of Brad JOHNSON and Liz SOWERS had the closest birthdays to the reunion. A door prize was given to the person who was responsible for the youngest OVERHOLTZER relative. That prize was awarded to Annie JOHNSON SCHWEITZBERGER, granddaughter of Cleone OVERHOLTZER HOSFIELD.

There were a few births, deaths and marriages. Birth reported were Emery SCHWEITZBERGER, Anthony James HARTSHORN and Drew GRAHAM. Deaths reported were Grace OVERHOLTZER MILLIGAN and O'Neal SCOTT. Rich and Chrystal JOHNSON'S marriage was the only one reported.

David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER and their family will host next year's reunion. It will be held at Tingley community building on August 7, 2011.
