Rev. Clifford GERARD, who served as pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Mount Ayr for nearly 11 years, has accepted a call to the church in Renault, IL.

A special dedication service was held Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Kellerton Assembly of God Church. The church, whose pastor is Rev. Keith BURTON, was able to burn the note for remodeling done at the church recently.

The church building was torn down in 2007 and a new church, built west of Mount Ayr, was dedicated during special services on Sunday, November 22nd, 1998.

Two new churches serving the Mount Ayr area have been completed recently and are hosting services. The Mount Ayr Assembly of God is working on finishing touches on its new church home south of Highway 2 in the west part of Mount Ayr. The Lighthouse, a non-denominational church, will be holding grand opening services this week at its location west of Mount Ayr along Highway 2.

Mount Ayr's Assembly of God will be celebrating the church's 65th anniversary with an evening of activity on the Mount Ayr square Saturday, Aug. 28.

The activity will begin at 5 p.m. with a supper. At 6 p.m. ventriloquist Mary PORTER will perform and at 6:45 p.m. Abigail's Antics will perform. Tina BOUNDS will sing at 7 p.m. followed by Pastor Doug ROHRER at 7:15 p.m. and more singing with Tina BOUNDS at 7:45 p.m. Son Dogs will play beginning at 8 p.m.

Inflatables will be on the square to play on, there will be games for the kids and free necklace glow sticks to the first 200 youth.

The evening is free as a celebration of the church's anniversary.

Mount Ayr's Assembly of God celebrated its 65th anniversary of having a church in Mount Ayr with a celebration on the Mount Ayr square Saturday night. A large crowd was on hand for a free supper, inflatable games for the kids and entertainment on a stage set up on the west side of the Mount Ayr square. Music by Tina BOUNDS and the group Son Dogs, ventriloquist Mary PORTER, Abigail's Antics and a talk by Pastor Doug ROHRER were among features of the evening celebration.
