Thompson Cemetery is located in a CRP field, Poe Township of Ringgold County. In 1929 John S. THOMPSON of
Sunnyside, Washington, placed a 3-foot high cement enclosure around most of the gravesites. There are approximately 4 more
rows of interments outside of the cement enclosure. Several unmarked gravesites are evident in this cemetery.
Thompson
Cemetery was recorded on June 14, 1979 for Ringgold County Historical Society by Betty
Ruby and Ruth Haley of Diagonal.
In August of 2002, Raymond V. Banner found the cemetery to be overtaken by brush and tall weeds. Only a few of the gravestones
could be located at this time.
Tony Mercer photographed the cemetery in June of 2013. Veteran information updated May of 2015 courtesy of Cathy Kilgore, Ringgold County Veterans Affairs;
Transcription updated October 2020 couresty of Cathy Kilgore; plot location from Raymond Banner's book, Cemetery Gravestone Recordings of Ringgold County.
