CALEDONIA CEMETERY TRANSCIPTIONS
LOTT'S CREEK TOWNSHIP, RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA

hr

view The Caledonia Cemetery is located approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile west of the Caledonia town site on County Road J-55. The cemetery is situated 1/4 of a mile from the cemetery sign back through a pasture. It is not visible from the road and there isn't a path to the cemetery outside of following tire tracks through the grass.

At one time there was a road going west out of Caledonia to the cemetery. This road is now long gone.

CAUTION: There are tree stumps which aren't visible when the grass is tall. There are also 3 passes that can be tricky if there has been a recent rain that may create a wash-out with a couple of steep gullies on the opposite side.

The earliest known interment was in 1858 and the latest in 1955.

Veteran information updated May of 2015 courtesy of Cathy Kilgore, Ringgold County Veteran Affairs; plot location from Raymond Banner's book, Cemetery Gravestone Recordings of Ringgold County.

NOTE: There are many unmarked gravesites at this cemetery.
