Deal, Stephens wed in church ceremony
JEFFERSON - Eydie DEAL and Steve STEPHENS were married Friday, Dec. 26, 1986, at the Central Christian Church here. The
Rev. Roger F. MILLER performed the 1 p.m. ceremony. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Forrest DEAL of Jefferson. The
groom's parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Velmer STEPHENS of Diagonal. Edna DEAL, mother of the bride, was the matron of
honor. Kenneth STEPHENS, brother of the groom, was the best man. Jerald DEAL, brother of the bride, Gary HALL, brother-in-law
of the bride, and Jack and Jim STEPHENS, brothers of the groom, ushered guests. Guests were greeted by Linda HALL,
sister of the bride, Cindy DEAL, sister-in-law of the bride, and Joan BOND, sister of the groom. The bride's niece, Jennifer
HALL, had charge of the guest book. Jeff HALL and Benji DEAL, nephews of the bride, were candle lighters. Organist
Joyce KINSMAN accompanied soloist Brent BOND, nephew of the groom. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the
church fellowship hall, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jerry STEPHENS and Mr. and Mrs. John STEPHENS. Assisting the ladies of the
church in serving were Brenda STEPHENS, sister-in-law of the groom, and Betty ROBINSON, Sheryl BROWN and Kathy GOODALE, sisters
of the groom. Assisting were Amy, Tracy, Mafgie, Terri and Lesa STEPHENS, and Cindy and Billi GOODALE, nieces of the groom.
The bride is the pastor of the United Church of Diagonal and the United Methodist churches of Arispe and Shannon City.
The groom is employed by the Diagonal Oil company. They will make their home in Diagonal.
Farewell Potluck for Eyde & Steve
Rev. Eydie and Steve STEPHENS were honored at a potluck at the Diagonal United Church of Diagonal on Sunday, October
18, 1992, starting at 12:00. Some seventy persons took the time from a busy harvest season to wish Eydie and Steve well
and good luck as they will be leaving the United Church of Diagonal. Rev. Eydie will start her new duties at the Clearfield
Christian Church on November 1st. She has been at Diagonal, Arispe and Shannon city since August, 1985. A short program
was held at 1:35 p.m. Frances SOBOTKA read a poem that she had wrote. Shelley MASON performed a song. Barb STEPHENS
and Kathy BUTLER, once again show[ed] their humorous talents with a short program of their own. Alice O'KELLY joined
them to help. Gary SOBOTKA, chairman of the board, closed the program. A pleasant afternoon.
