1903

Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Riggs

Mr. RIGGS was born in Mercer, Maine, March 3, 1826. Mrs. RIGGS was born at Monmouthshire, England, January 5, 1825. They were married at Medford, Massacchusetts, October 19, 1847. They lived first in Massachuseets, then in Maine, then in Rhode Island, then in Illinois, and in 1870, they moved to Ringgold County, Iowa, and in 1886 to Mount Ayr, where they have since lived. They both are members of the M.E. Church. Mr. RIGGS has been a local M.E. preacher for many years. He is a life-ling republican, casting his first presidential vote for Zachary TAYLOR, whig candidate in 1848. There have been born to this couple eight children, three of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. RIGGS are not enjoying the best of health, but despite the ailments and sufferings of age, they are cheeful and happy, and are beloved by all our people.

NOTE: Ezekiel R. RIGGS died on November 9, 1907. Elizabeth Ann RIGGS was born in 1825. They were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
