Twice-A-Week News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
1898

REV. Wm. McFARLAND.

Rev. Wm. McFARLAND was born in Washington county, Penn., in 1852. He came to Mt. Ayr July 31, 1856, in company with his father Col. John McFARLAND, and ever since has lived in the county. Since his marriage to Miss Mary J. REYNOLDS about 25 years ago, he has lived near Diagonal, much of the time being engaged in farming.

For eight years he has been engaged in evangelistic work, having held many great meetings at which great numbers were converted, and being in constant demand as a conductor of religious revivals.

NOTE: Rev. McFARLAND conducted a six-week revival in the spring of 1886 for the founding congregation of the Middle Fork Methodist Episcopal Church. It was said that Rev. McFARLAND saved more than 100 souls.

Rev. William T. "Bill" McFARLAND was born on July 29, 1853, and died February 2, 1935. Rev. and Mrs. McFARLAND were interred at Benton Cemetery, Benton, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Transcription and note by Sharon R. Becker, May of 2010
