E. W. McDONALD
E. W. McDONALD was born May 4, 1849, in Madison county, Ohio. Moving to Iowa with his parents, the family first settled in
Muscatine, later moving to Washington, where they lived two years, then to Decatur county in May 1855, settling near
Tuskeego. Here E. W. grew to manhood and lived until 1887, when he removed to Kellerton and engaged in the merchantile
business in which he continued until March 30, 1896, when he sold his store and purchased the Kellerton house. Mr.
McDONALD runs an emphatically first-class house, attending carefully to the wants of his guests. He is of a jovial and
generous dispostion, has hosts of friends and is well calculated to make a successful landlord.
NOTE: Emmet Winfield McDONALD was the son of
Maley and Mary (FERGUSON) McDONALD. Emmet's wife Sarah
was declared insane and resided in the Decatur County Poorhouse, dying as a pauper at the age of 61 at the county home
on September 23, 1909. She was buried at the County Home Cemetery, Eden Township, Decatur County, Iowa.
