On Friday night [February 12], Diagonal honored long-time official Steve McCann for his forty plus years of officiating in a ceremony held prior to the boys game. Steve is experiencing some health problems and had been forced to the sidelines for an extended period. A large crowd was on hand to witness the ceremony and the boys win over Mormon Trail.

Steve was presented with several gifts at this time. He was given a basketball that was signed by past and present athletes from various schools around the area. The ball was presented to him b senior Jacob Taylor. He was then presented a framed officials shirt by Lester Elliott, and finally was presented a plaque by official Scott Busch.

Steve was very honored to have Diagonal as the location for this ceremony. He said he has many, many friends here and is seeing his third generation come through as athletes and many stories about his times at Diagonal, and is hoping to make many more in the future.
