S. J. LONG was born in Greene county, Penn. in 1859, moved with his parents to Ohio in 1868, where he lived until 1882, when he came to Ringgold county, engaging in the merchandise and grain business at Delphos. He afterwards engaged extensively in farming and buying stock, making a specialty of handling horses.

In 1892 he took charge of the GAMBLE farm near Delphos, which he superintended for four years, during which time he continued to handle horses. This spring he removed to Mt. Ayr, where he will buy horses for shipping.

Mr. and Mrs. LONG are members of the Christian church.
