Ringgold Record Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa Friday, June 12, 1896
VETERAN BARBERS.
IMUS & DONOVAN, the popular, up to-date and pioneer tonsorial artists of Mt. Ayr, are perhaps better known to the majority
of the people of Ringgold county than any other knights of the razor and shears within our borders. L. B. [Lewis Burgess] IMUS came to
Ringgold county in 1854, settling on a farm three miles northwest of Mt. Ayr. He began working at the barber trade in this
city 22 years ago, or June 4, 1874, and has hardly missed a day from work in all these years - a record we have never
known excelled. To-day he is the leading man in all lines and his skill is perceptible to all patrons. F. M. DONOVAN arrived
here 20 years ago and has been engaged in the barber trade 19 years, though not all of that time in Mt. Ayr. He was in
Tingley, Osceola, and other places, and numbers his friends and customers here as elsewhere by the score. It is
doubtful if this part of Iowa can produce two more popular men or those who have been so long and successfully in the same
calling. The partnership was formed in 1892. At that time the shop was under the Mt. Ayr bank. In 1893 they moved to their
present location, three doors south of the NEWS office. Call on them for a clean, slick shave, elegant hair cut, etc.
All work is first-class.
