Henry ARNETT, Mt. Ayr, Iowa, is a native of Montgomery County, Virginia, where he lived until eighteen years of age. He was left an orphan at an early age, and was reared by strangers. He passed his early life on a farm, attending, when possible, the district school. In 1828 he came West, and lived in Illinois three years, and in the fall of 1831 when to St. Charles County, Missouri. He was married April 8, 1832, to Lucinda Wood, a native of St. Louis County, Missouri. In 1834 he moved to Lee County, Iowa, where he lived a year, and then went to Des Moines County, and from there to Louisa County, where he lived two or three years. About 1838 he returned to Des Moines County, and subsequently to Calhoun County, Illinois, where he lived until the spring of 1855, when he moved to Ringgold County, Iowa, and located in Middle Fork Township. In the spring of 1885 he retired from farm life and moved to Mt. Ayr. He has been an energetic, enterprising man, and is one of the representative citizens of the county. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, which he has served in different official capacities. To him and his wife have been born eleven children, seven of whom are living - William L., Margaret M., George W., Virginia, Emma C., Charles W. and Alice CAREY. The deceased are - Elizabeth, Sarah C., Mary Ellen and Henry Augustus.

NOTE: Henry ARNETT, born circa 1810 in Montgomery or Wythe County, Virginia, died at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, on Sunday, May 22, 1887. Lucinda (WOOD) ARNETT died at the age of 75 years and 10 days on February 10, 1893. Henry and Lucinda were interred at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Charles W. ARNETT was born April 20, 1857, and died on August 6, 1932, with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

George Washington ARNETT, son of Henry and Lucinda (WOODS) ARNETT, was born in Calhoun County, Illinios, in 1852.

Emma A. ARNETT died on October 1, 1908, with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Granville A. ARNETT was born on March 18, 1888, and died August 28, 1888, with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Inna ARNETT died at the age of 10 months and 16 days on February 9, 1878, with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Henry ARNETT, son of W. L. and Mary M. ARNETT, was born October 24, 1882, and died December 3, 1887, with interment at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Also interred at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa, William ARNETT, twin brother of Henry ARNETT, died at the age of 75 years and 4 days on January 2, 1885.
