November 17, 2012:  Added 3 more biographies (George Pellett, Ambrose Pellett and Hon. James E. Bruce) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

November 12, 2012:  Added transcription of Page (Sheet) 2B of the 1930 Federal Census for Cass County.

October 9, 2012:  Added 28 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

October 8, 2012:  Added 31 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa. Also added the second page of the Manufacturing Section (page 10) from the 1913 Industrial Edition.

October 6, 2012:  Added transcription of Page (Sheet) 2A of the 1930 Federal Census for Cass County.

October 5, 2012:  Added 20 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

September 22, 2012:  Added 39 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

September 20, 2012:  Added 26 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

September 18, 2012:  Added transcription of the first two pages of the 1930 Federal Census for Cass County. Additional pages will gradually be added as they are completed, with the long-term goal of transcribing the entire 1930 Federal Census for Cass County. Many thanks to Joy Scanlan for volunteering to transcribe these census records!

September 14, 2012:  Added 5 more biographies (J. R. Herbert & Family, Joseph K. Herbert, Frank Nordman, Frederick Stoodt, and Charles Jackson) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

August 30, 2012:  Added two more pages from the 1913 Industrial Edition, transcriptions of pages 6 (What Atlantic Has) and 9 (the first page of the Manufacturing section).

August 28, 2012:  Added an index to the 1913 Industrial Edition, along with transcriptions of pages 1-4. More pages coming soon!

August 27, 2012:  Added over 50 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

August 26, 2012:  Added 25 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa.

August 23, 2012:  Added Letter from Charles Baldwin of Lewis dated April 26, 1858.

August 17, 2012:  Added Massena High School Graduates, 1895-1940, transcribed from the Dedication Issue published by the Anita Tribune for the dedication ceremonies of the new C&M Elementary and Junior-Senior High School Buildings in 1981. Also added 6 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa [Bradshaw, Byrd, Meredith, Ludley, Everly and Baldwin].

August 15, 2012:  Added Cumberland High School Graduates, 1897-1940, transcribed from the Dedication Issue published by the Anita Tribune for the dedication ceremonies of the new C&M Elementary and Junior-Senior High School Buildings in 1981.

August 14, 2012:  Added the Meats, and Miscellaneous sections from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added photos to the Justice of the Peace section. In the original book these Justice of the Peace photos were inserted near the end of the book with miscellaneous photos and biographies, rather than with the matching Justice of the Peace bios.

The 1904 Exposition Album has now been completely transcribed and is fully accessible on Cass IAGenWeb. However, the biographies still need to be linked to the 1904 Biographical Index, as they are currently only accessible via the appropriate category/section (Meats, Attorneys-at-Law, etc.).

Also added Anita High School Graduates, 1888-1940, transcribed from the Anita Quasquicentennial history book.

August 13, 2012:  Added the Furniture and Undertaking, and Hardware sections from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

August 3, 2012:  Added the Buffets section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added W. T. Joyce Company, Green Bay Lumber, and Whiteside's Painting and Decorating.

August 2, 2012:  Added the Merchant Tailoring section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added Dry Goods, Photographers, and Stock Dealers.

July 31, 2012:  Added 51 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa. Continuing to load gravestone photos from Wiota Jameson and Evergreen cemeteries to Iowagravestones (GPP). Retakes for Southlawn Memory Gardens are complete and will loaded in the near future, along with a few retakes from Lorah and Highland cemeteries.

July 21, 2012:  Added the Manufacturing, General Merchandise, and Real Estate sections from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Added Sherman Myers Death Notice. Also, an IAGenWeb volunteer walked Southlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery earlier in July and photographed all existing gravestones. Those gravestone photos have been uploaded to Iowagravestones except for a handful that need to be re-taken. Updated the Iowagravestones (GPP) Surname Index.

July 20, 2012:  Added remainder of the Attorneys-at-Law section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added Boots Shoes, Clothing and Gents' Furnishings, Grocers, Hotels and Restaurants, and Jewelers.

July 8, 2012:  Added 15 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa. (Andrews, Brinkerhoff, Byrd, Coe, Doner, Everett, Harris, Haymaker, Howard, Kincade, Knepper, Morris, Stevens, Stevens, Walton.) Also moved over transcription of the first two pages of the Attorneys-at-Law section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

July 7, 2012:  Added William and Sarah Trailer Family Bible records. The Trailer family were early settlers in Brighton township.

July 3, 2012:  Added one additional picture to the Dentists section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album, and added transcription of the Druggist and the Souvenir Album Photographers sections.

July 2, 2012:  Added 10 more biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa and finished reformating the Table of Contents/Index of names. (Baxter, Garner, Johnson, Likens, J. Stevens, Elsey, Hunt, Jones, Scott, G. Stevens) Also moved over transcription of the Dentists section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

June 30, 2012:  Added 33 biographies from the 1884 History of Cass County Iowa and began work on reformating the Table of Contents/Index of names.

June 10, 2012:  Added photograph of an Unknown Cass County Family. The photograph belonged to Walter and Ollie Lusk of Lewis, and may be of some of their relatives or family friends in the area. Can you help identify this unknown Cass County family? UPDATE 1/15/15: UNKNOWN FAMILY IDENTIFIED!!! Photo is of the Burnside Family, Lewis, Iowa.

May 30, 2012:  Added the remainder of the Physicians and Surgeons section from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

May 26, 2012:  Added an additional historic view of Chestnut Street in Atlantic containing a sign partially visible for "Lowe, Fine Cabinets" (?? & Lowe). Also updated the entry for Roland's Funeral Home on the Area Funeral Homes & Newspapers page to indicate birth and death dates are available for funerals at least back to the 1920's. Also added 5 more biographies (Ackerman, Buckley, Liston, Newlon and Weirich) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography

May 7, 2012:  Added cemetery table for Wiota (Jameson) Cemetery, which will eventually include links to corresponding Iowagravestones photographs, as well WPA records and biographies and obituaries that have been transcribed to IAGenWeb. Uploading of the photographs is in progress, but will take some time to complete, as this is a fairly large cemetery.

April 20, 2012:  Added 7 more biographies (Kimball, Kriger, Kunze, Nordman, Oakes, O'Connell and Odem) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

April 18, 2012:  Added 3 more biographies (Briggs, Brown, and Young) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography and also the section on the Town of Wiota.

April 8, 2012:  Added a link to the 1940 Federal Census for Cass County. The 1940 census has not been indexed yet, so you will not be able to search on your ancestor's name, but you can page through the images. The above link will display a list of the ED description images, but just click "Maps" or "Census Schedules" to view those instead.

April 4, 2012:  Added Death Certificate Index 1917-1921, indexed by the State Historical Society of Iowa and reformatted for Cass IAGenWeb.

April 2, 2012:  Added the final page of Bank and Bankers (Phillips, Simpson, Harvey) and Physicians and Surgeons Plate 1 from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

March 28, 2012:  Added the remainder of Bank and Bankers Plate 2 and Plate 3 from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added transcriptions of 12 more biographies (Alexander, Beason, Bradshaw, Brehmer, Breece, Boorman, Calkins, Perrin, Peters, Rowland, Wallace, Worthington) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

March 12, 2012:  Added portraits of 13 prominent Cass County Citizens and 2 biographical sketches (Ballard and Hopley) from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (pages 5 & 391).

February 28, 2012:  Added scanned images of all four pages of The Atlantic Weekly Telegraph, Vol. 2, No. 43, Dec. 4, 1872. This is very likely the only copy of this particular issue still in existence today. Also added photos of the Andrew and Emma (Darnold) Erickson family.

February 28, 2012:  Added transcription of the Table of Contents from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added transcriptions of Atlantic Churches and Wiota Savings Bank from the 1906 compendium. Also added engraved view of the Farm & Country Residence of S. M. Ballard from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (page 286).

February 27, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 3 more biographies (Cuykendall, Cuykendall and Erickson) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added image of Obed Blakeslee to his biography, already transcribed from page 270. (Image is from a separate unnumbered page located between pages 270 and 271.)

February 25, 2012:  Added photo of Arthur Levi Downs, son of Levi and Laura Downs of Atlantic. Also added 19 more biographies from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940), Boorman through Cruise.

February 23, 2012:  Added images of two advertisements for the Levi Downs Store from the June, 1894 issue of Metropolitan Fashions.

February 22, 2012:  Added 14 more biographies from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940) and the remainder of the key to abbreviations. Also added 11 additional engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (pages 282, 284, 329, 335, 336).

February 18, 2012:  Added transcription of a short history of Cass County and the biography of Clarence Samuel Acker, both from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940), including a partial transcription of the key to abbreviations.

February 1, 2012:  Added an index to Cass County biographies found in the Iowa Press Association's Who's Who in Iowa (1940).

January 29, 2012:  Added 4 engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Barnett, Beason, Morgan and Reesman).

January 28, 2012:  Added 5 new transcriptions from the 1875 Andreas Atlas: Physical Features & Resources; County Officers, 1875; Early History; Towns; and Business Directory of Cass County Patrons.

January 27, 2012:  Added 5 engraved views and 2 maps from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Elliott, Kirk, Hebing, Meredith, Van Vlack, and plans/maps of Atlantic and Lewis).

January 16, 2012:  Added 10 engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Berg, J. Hopley, McDermott, Spoor, Strater, W. Hopley, Coomes, Cushing & Palmer, Dickerson, and Warwick).

January 10, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 4 more biographies (Miller, Needles Neer and Nelson) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added an index to Cass County materials contained in the 1875 Andreas Atlas.

January 8, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 6 more biographies (Beaver, Beebe, Bell, Bell, Berry, and Young) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

January 7, 2012:  Uploading of gravestone photos from Highland Cemetery is now complete. Wiota/Jameson Cemetery was partially walked and photographed in November 2011, and uploading of those photos to the Iowagravestone Photo Project (GPP) will now begin. Photographing of all gravestones in Wiota/Jameson is expected to be completed Spring/Summer 2012. Evergreen Cemetery was partially walked and photographed in December 2011, and uploading of those photos will also begin soon.

January 6, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 5 biographies from Biographies and Portraits of Progressive Men of Iowa Volume II by B. F. Shambaugh, published in 1899. Also reorganized the Military section, adding a Military Main Page and added a new transcription The Twenty-third Iowa Infantry to the Civil War section.

January 5, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 6 biographies from Biographies and Portraits of Progressive Men of Iowa by B. F. Gue, published in 1899. Also added a page for St. Joseph's/Wiota Catholic Cemetery. St. Joseph's was walked by an IAGenWeb volunteer in November 2011 and all gravestones photographed. Those photos have been uploaded to the Iowagravestones Photo Project (GPP).
