The marriage record I have from Wayne County shows the age of Charles Thornton as 36 at the time of their marriage. Also, I have a copy of the record from Appanoose County on the birth of their first child, my grandfather, and no where in there does it give the age of Charles Thornton at all, so I don't know where that age of 29 came from. I also saw that article about the death of Charles Thornton, and thought I had hit pay dirt, until I got a copy of the obit, and he was only 34 .. what I do have, which is scant little, says he was a jeweler .. not that he couldn't have worked in the mines, all of Clara's brothers did .. you are being great and I appreciate your help greatly !
