Another family coming this way about that time was Wilson Jenkins and wife Rachael Brooks Jenkins. And settling in Allamakee Co., IA
Their farm was close to Volney.. Most of the family are buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, have
almost all the obits.. and information of marriages and families still in area.

Rachael was my great grandfathers older sister. Another sister married an Mahanna and they went to Illinois, settling just over the line of SE corner of Iowa and upper part of Mo. Another brother of my great grandfathers also came to Van Buren Co., Iowa with his family and he was in his 60's at that time. Bringing some of his younger children and also some of the married ones..

Wilson Jenkins was from Monongalia area.. and they lived there rasing their family and then
coming in later life to Iowa with children..

I wonder if part of t he reason for coming to Iowa, was that others from area had come and wrote back telling about area..or relatives were here already. and with the large families they had to give some of the younger ones a new
place to settle.
