Has Congregational, German Lutheran and Methodist Episcopal churches, a banks, a weekly newspaper, the Index Tel., W.U. Exp., Am. Mrs. Mary E. Davis, postmaster.

JOLLEY [p. 621]. Population 250 An incorporated town on the c., M. & St. P. Ry., in Butler township, Calhoun county, 10 miles northwest of Rockwell City, the county seat. has a Methodist Episcopal church and a bank. Tel, W. U. Exp., W. F. & Co. Lizzie M. Koeppen, postmaster.

KNIERIM [p.637]. Population, 220. On the Ill. Central R. R., in Greenfileld township, Calhoun County, 14 miles ne. of Rockwell City, the county seat, and 87 from Des Moines. Has German Lutheran and Methodist Episcopal churches and a bank, Tel, W. U. Exp., Am. C. M. burke, postmaster.

KNOKE [p.637]. Population, 18. On the c. M. & St. P. Ry., in Butler township, Calhoun county, 11 miles nw. of Rockwell City, the county seat, and 3 1/2 from Jolley, the nearest banking point. Telephone connection. Exp., W., F. & Co. E. C. Alpers, postmaster.

LAKE CITY [p.640]. Population, 2,164. A stirring town on the C. & N. W. Ry., in Calhoun county, 12 miles sw. of Rockwell City, the judicial seat and 75 nw. of Des Moines. It contains Baptist, Catholic, Christian, Methodist, Presbyterian and United Brethren churches, excellent schools, 2 banks and 2 weekly newspapers, the Graphic and the news Exp., Am Tel., W. U. Robert M. Reid, postmaster.
