Limousine accident near Boone involves area people
Wedding day of a couple with Ringgold county area ties had a tragic interlude when the limousine in which the wedding
party was traveling from the wedding to the reception was involved in a fatal accident on Highway 30 in Boone county
Saturday. William and Danielle SNOOK had been married at a Saturday ceremony and were headed to the reception when
their limousine was involved in an accident with a 1996 GMC Jimmy. According to the accident report, the Jimmy, driven
by 15-year-old Daniel PETERS of Ames was traveling westbound on the highway when the vehicle changed lanes to make a
left hand turn. The 2003 Hummer Limousine with the wedding party, driven by 43-year-old John BARKER Jr. of Des Moines,
came in contact with the PETER vehicle. The Jimmy left the roadway, where it rolled, ejecting one of the passengers. The
limousine came to rest in the median. Grandparents of the driver of the Jimmy -- Delbert PETER, 80, and Dorothy PETER,
77, were killed in the accident. The PETERS were headed to picnic at Ledges State Park at the time of the accident.
Two people in the limousine -- the bride Danielle SNOOK, 28, of Davenport and Keith HISE, 24, of Guthrie Center, were
taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. SNOOK was listed in fair condition, while HISE was critical, a hospital
spokesman said. William SNOOK and Keith HISE are 2005 Mount Ayr Community high school graduates. SNOOK grew up in
Grand River and HISE in Tingley. Others in the wedding party in the limousine included Brady HIXSON and Travis KNOX,
also from the Ringgold county area. HIXSON graduated with SNOOK and HISE from MACHS in 2005 and KNOX is from
Clearfield. Daniel PETER was treated and released for injuries from the accident as well. The accident is still under
investigation, according to officials.
