Fugate rides in MS fund-raiser
Tammy FUGATE, daughter of Rose MERRILL of Kellerton, recently participated in the BP Multiple Sclerosis bicycle ride from
Houston, TX, to Austin, TX. The BPMS 150 is a two-day fund-raising cycling event organized by the National MS Society
Lone Star. It is the largest event of its kind in North America and in 2011 raised more than $16.9 million. On her 24th
year taking part in the event, she was recognized as a top fund-raiser. "As a pharmacist, I am daily reminded of the
progress the fight against MS has made since my first ride," she said. It is rewarding to circle the Austin capital
grounds, hearing the cheers and seeing the crowd while knowing she is helping others. "I am making a difference, one
pedal crank at a time," she said.
