Norman KLEJCH of Diagonal was recently appointed a member of the Ringgold county board of education. He succeeds E.M.
WATSON, also of Diagonal, who tendered his resignation a few weeks ago after serving four years.
Jack ELLIOTT was installed as the new president of the Mount Ayr Lions Club at the regular meeting held last evening.
He succeeds Alvin VARNER, who has capably served as president with a past president's pin.
Marshal MATTHEWS, postmaster and store operator at Benton, who also does farming on the side, has considerable
more respect for terraces after the four-inch rain on his 80-acre farm the night of June 19. The field in the corn
this year had some terraces to protect the steeper area and Marshal said he figured the more gentle slope above
the terraces would not erode to any appreciable extent. However, he said after the four-inch ran he found out he was
very much mistaken.
Howard D. POLLARD announces the installation of a new five-ton air conditioner in the Pollard's Royal Blue Food Store

of the store. The Pollard Grocery is now the only completely air-conditioned food store in Ringgold county.
