Music, drama and art students of the Mount Ayr Community high school combined their talents for another
successful Fine Arts Festival at the art building on North Taylor street. Grand prize in the two-dimensional
division was Bryan NOBLE for his painting "Check Mate."
Steve WALTERS of Kellerton will be the pre-conference delegate and will go to Ames to receive training.
Regular delegates include: Helen BOESE of Redding, Fred BRYAN of Mount Ayr; Becky KLEJCK and Karen TAYLOR of
Diagonal; Cathy MANNING Of Kellerton; Peggy WHITSON Of Beaconsfield; and Shelly WILKINS of Tingley.
Sherri KLEJCH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman KLEJCH of Diagonal, was chosen as Ringgold County Beef queen for
1977. Her attendants were Colleen WERNER and Linda LINK.
Barbar WAGENKNECHT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber WAGENKNECHT, and a senior in the Mount Ayr Community high
school, was installed as Worthy Advisor of Mount Ayr Assembly No. 160, Order of Rainbow Girls.
Jean IRVING became the first girl in Mount Ayr track history to place in the state track meet when she earned
seven points in two events Saturday at Drake University in Des Moines. IRVING placed third in the Class 2-A
100-meter hurdles at :15.6. She also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 23/4". IRVING, a senior,
set school records in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles and 220-yard low hurdles this year.
