Annual concert by the Ringgold Singers, the community chorus from Ringgold and surrounding counties, will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Mount Ayr Community high school auditorium.

When the high school 4x100 meter relay event is run at the Drake Relays in Des Moines Saturday, the Mount Ayr Community Raider track team will be represented. The Raider team was one of 161 high school teams across the state to qualify to run in the event by posting times of 46.5 seconds or better in meets so far this year. The Raiders have a season-best time of :46.42 so far this year. Five Raiders have been alternating running the event so far this year. They include Mark CRAIN, Luke LARSEN, Jared ARMSTRONG, Nick GROSE and Brad WILSON.

Barb BOWER took the oath of office on Thursday, April 18, for the vacant position in the Ringgold county supervisors' office. BOWER was the county treasurer from 1975-1998.

A Ringgold county 4-H member has been selected to receive two outstanding honors in the southwest Iowa Area 4-H recognition program held recently. Landi McFARLAND of Ellston received state project awards in citizenship and leadership.

Members of the H.E.L.P. YouthPod attending the Dekko Foundation's "I Spy Philanthropie" youth retreat in Kendalville, IN were Amanda HYNEK, Katie AMICK, Robbie MASON, Jerry WERNER, Trevor WOLF and advisor John LARSEN, who will be the guidance counselor at Mount Ayr Community high school next year.

Jan DUKES of Ellston and Alan CULBERTSON of Redding received recognition for being employed with WoodLink, Ltd. in Mount Ayr for 10 years. WoodLink president David NYLEN presented DUKES and CULBERTSON with a cash donation. Woodlink was established in 1988.

Winners were named in two divisions when the AWANA youth group at the Regular Baptist Church in Mount Ayr held its AWANA race and a contest for best design. Top three finishers in the race were Connor AVEY (driven by Jackson AVEY), Annie UHLENKAMP and Wesley KLEJCH. Top three in the design contest were Noah LARSON, Shannon FOX and Emily FOX.

Several Ringgold county dancers brought home awards from the Minnesota Dance Contest, a four-state contest. Participating were Stephanie McDONNELL, Kelsey MEESTER, Lacey MEESTER, Holly MEESTER, Dana COX and Breanne McDONNELL. This group of six, which includes five county dancers, took second place in the tap dance competition. The five county dancers have previously studied with Jane LAWHEAD at Ringgold School of Dance and Tracee KNAPP at The Dance Connection in Mount Ayr.
