Mount Ayr Community elementary school students will be taking part in an African Drums arts residency with Fons KOSTNER,
an interactive music educator from Fairfield, Monday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 30.
Hy-Vee
announced last week that Jim DEUTSCH has been selected as the new store director of the Mount Ayr Hy-Vee. DEUTSCH
began his new duties at the Mount Ayr Hy-Vee on November 14.
A Mount Ayr student at South-western Community College
in Creston has been named to receive a scholarship from the Southwest Iowa Homebuilders Association. Mitch GOURLEY, a
sophomore at the college, has received a $250 scholarship which was part of the proceeds from admissions to the
Parade of Homes/Home Show held in June.
Three people who attended the state Special Olympics bowling competition in
Des Moines Saturday from the Ringgold County Resource Center program brought home placings. Don CLARK received a
bronze medal in his division while Rena CASTRO took fourth place and Dennis RINEHART took fifth place in their divisions.
A Mount Ayr Community high schools student recently placed third in state Special Olympics bowling competition. Amber
GOLLIDAY of Mount Ayr took third place in bowling competition held in Des Moines Saturday. She won a gold medal
at regional competition to be invited to the state meet.
Joe RUMPLE, son of Brad RUMPLE of Mesa, AZ, and Marcy RUMPLE
of Mount Ayr, will be playing in the Arizona state Class 5A football playoffs. RUMPLE, a former Mount Ayr community
student, is currently playing his senior year of football for Gilbert high school in Gilbert, AZ.
Santa came early for
someone this year. Gracie HOHN of Mount Ayr made a leisurely trip into Lynn's Texaco food Mart in the afternoon of
November 12 and purchased a $2 Black Jack lottery ticket. HOHN took it home to scratch it and found herself a $21,000
winner.
