Three pieces of Ringgold County farm machinery, one of which had been missing since September of 1990, were recovered in Lucas
county last Wednesday. The machinery loss in Ringgold county was valued at an approximate total of $75,000. Gary RICHMAN, 38, of Humeston,
was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and is presently in the Lucas county jail with bond set at
$26,000.
DeAnna FARIS, the daughter of Lyle and Kay FARIS of Mount Ayr, was crowned the Ringgold county fair queen for 1993 and Sarah
CREVELING, daughter of Kevin and Tammy CREVELING of Ellston, was named county fair princess.
Amanda MILLER showed the champion dairy heifer at the Ringgold county fair this year. MILLER'S SHorthorn heifer topped the
small dairy class to bring home the honors. She also had the winning dairy goad of the fair, sweeping all the dairy honors.
The Kellerton Topaz Masonic Lodge No. 438, A.F. & A.M. has selected nominees for "Young Mason of the Year" and
"Teacher of the Year" awards -- Kent LOWMAN and Kathy AKERS, respectively. Their names will be submitted in competition
for state awards. Winners will receive state-wide recognition later this year.
The quartet of Tod STURGIS, Rodger CANNON, Ken MARKLEY and Ed HUTCHINSON combined to win the postponed four-man, best
ball, open golf tournament held July 18, at the Mount Ayr Golf & Country Club. They shot a 28-28 for the 56 total that was good
enough to win by four strokes.
Sabine STEINMETZ, 27, from Heidleberg, Germany, arrived in Mount Ayr June 28 to spend about a month experiencing the
work-a-day world at the Hilltop Veterinary Clinic in west Mount Ayr. She is residing in the home of the Dr. Dan WEDDLE
family. She is working with Dr. WEDDLE, Dr. Keith MILLER and Dr. Steve GOFF of Grant City, MO as they go about their summer
tasks, made busier than usual by the various fairs that are going on about this time.
Thirty youth and 10 adults will be part of a Mount Ayr Christian Youth Fellowship group from the First Christian Church
going on a nine-day bus trip to Washington, D.C. and area and New York City, NY. The church has an ongoing project of such
a tour every four years and fundraisers are held to help fianance the "trip of a lifetime."
