A three-person staff is working on developing and building a better car wash machine called the Blaster in Mount
Ayr. Taylor Maid Car Wash in Mount Ayr is one of the locations where the unique machines have been installed. The
machines are assembled in Mount Ayr by Best, Inc. whose staff included Kevin JAMES, Randy SMITH and Chadd SMITH.
Several people had special honors in the Mount Ayr Community high school homecoming parade recently. Grand marshals
of the parade were Larry and Karon GILES. Larry GILES retired this year after many years as elementary school principal.
Riding in the Mount Ayr Lions club train were homecoming princess Desirae TRAMMEL and prince Alex SOBOTKA.
Winners were named in several divisions at the Mount Ayr Community high school homecoming parade Friday, Oct. 8. Winning
the commercial division was a float from Mercantile Bank which featured four past homecoming queens who are bank
employees. The Mount Ayr Education Association took first place in the school organizations division by brining M & Ms
to life for their Millennium in Motion theme.
A Mount Ayr resident has been appointed to the board of directors of Southwestern Community College in Creston. Larry
GILES of Mount Ayr was appointed to fill the seat vacated by the retirement of Dr. Duane MITCHELL of Mount Ayr.
Mount Ayr Community high school's Raider marching band picked up a division II rating when it traveled to the state marching
band contest in Des Moines Saturday.
