The girls county 4-H committee met Thursday and Friday and graded the girls' 4-H record books. Sixty-six of the books
were rated blue, 65 rated red and 66 received white ratings.
Roger STANLEY, the boy's county 4-H president, returned Tuesday from an all-expense-paid trip to the Ralston Purina Feed
Mills at Saint Louis, MO. The award trip was made possible by the Prentis Hatchery, local Purina feed dealer.
Mrs. Blanche TEALE escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon of last week in an auto accident. Mrs. TEALE was en route
to Mount Ayr from Des Moines when the accident happened about 4:30 p.m. four miles east of Afton. Due to the heavy rain,
the blacktop was slick and while rounding a curve, the car started to skid and Mrs. TEALE was unable to keep the
car on the road. The car skidded south across the highway and went off an embankment. Fortunately traffic on the road
was light at that particular time. Soon after the accident, the Rev. A. R. WEED of Lamoni observed the car in the ditch.
He assisted Mrs. TEALE to his car and took her to Afton, where a wrecker was called to make temporary repairs.
There will be a "ridiculously" good parade in Mount Ayr Saturday afternoon of this week beginning at 2 p.m., according
to Darrell REED, parade committee chairman. The parade will be only one of the many features of "Ridiculous Days"
scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Mount Ayr.
