A joint operation by the Decatur County Drug Task Force brought law enforcement officers to three residences -- one in
Ringgold county and two in Decatur county -- where six people were charged with methamphetamine related crimes Thursday,
Nov. 12. It is the first methamphetamine related drug bust in Ringgold county.
One Mount Ayr Community FFA chapter member received the American FFA degree, the highest degree awarded by the National
FFA organization, at the national convention in Kansas City, MO last week. Nathan NICKLE of Clearfield received the honor,
which is based on demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievments in agricultural business, production,
processing and service programs.
A total of 16 major awards were presented to Ringgold county 4-H members during the annual 4-H awards recognition
program held Sunday afternoon. Among award winners were Ashley ADAMS, Melonie MOBLEY, Amber TAYLOR, Tara RICHARDSON,
Ann WALKUP, Amy HYNEK, Richard FARIS, Kyle RICHARDSON, Michael FARIS, Amanda WERNER, Amy SCHLAPIA, Carrie QUICK,
Derrick WILEY, Clint WHITTINGTON, Michael BAKER and Abby JEANES. Major awards are given to senior age 4-Hers and are
considered to be the highest honor a 4-H member can receive in their 4-H career.
Special services to dedicate the new Mount Ayr Assembly of God Church will be held Sunday, Nov. 22.
A holiday arrangement by floral designer Cody Bayard EVITT, a former Ringgold county resident, is featured on the
cover of the December issue of Midwest Living. The arrangement features pears, grape clusters, hydrangeas and roses
in a watering can. EVITT is a graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school and is a flora designer for Boesen the Florist
in Des Moines.
A Mount Ayr Community junior high student was selected to appear in the Iowa All-State junior high band recently. Clara
TERRELL, an eighth grade oboe player, was selected as one of only 22 students from Southwest Iowa to participate in
the all-state band. TERRELL was selected to the honor when she participated inthe Southwest Iowa Junior High Honor Band
Friday in Council Bluffs.
