Mount Ayr's new Halloween season event, the Beggar's Bash,had a very successful first year when more than 450 people
attended the event held at Judge Lewis Park in Mount Ayr Saturday evening.
Courtney CANNON and Austin ADAMS were crowned
homecoming royalty for the Mount Ayr Community high school homecoming activities held over the weekend. CANNON is the
daughter of Gregg and Debbie CANNON of Mount Ayr and ADAMS is the son of Darrell and Brenda ADAMS of Kellerton. Princesses
and princes for the Mount Ayr Community homecoming queen crowning Friday included Bailea STARK, James DOWLER III, Paige
DAUGHTON and Hagan WILLIS.
Mount Ayr Community high school's Raider marching band received a division I rating when they
traveled to Des Moines' Lincoln high school for the state marching band contest Saturday.
A student from Mount Ayr has been elected president of the Business Management Association at AIB
College of Business in Des Moines. Amanda McLEAD of Mount Ayr is the new president of the group. McLEAD is a 2000
graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school. She is majoring in business administration-sales and marketing.
Suzi CATANZARETI of Mount Ayr, director of the Upward Bound program at Graceland University, has been recognized for
her service to the Premium Standard Farms Rural Community Foundation.
Five Mount Ayr community senior girls are
participating on the volleyball team this year as they prepare for district play next week. Seniors include Mekenze
BISHOP, Kelsey ALLEN, Michelle DUGAN, Courtney CANNON and Mary SHARFENKAMP.
