Nine Mount Ayr Community high school FFA chapter members, the highest number ever for
one year, were named Iowa Farmer degree recipients at the state FFA convention in Des Moines last week. Seniors Mekenze
BISHOP, Sheryl DOLECHECK, Holly MEESTER, Tony MERCER and Landi McFARLAND and juniors Jacque BAKER, Brian ENGLAND, Adam
TRIGGS and Brad WILSON joined 158 chapter members since 1940 to be awarded the degree, the top award that FFA members can
earn on the state level.
Ringgold county sheriff's office responded to a vehicle in the ditch in Union township north of
Ellston last Thursday that led to the recovery of several reported stolen items. The sheriff's department found a pickup
filled with tools, four-wheeler tires, furniture and more.
Joey RUSK took first place in the flight endurance competition at
the Technology Students of America state convention in Des Moines. RUSK had to build a model airplane which would run on
rubber band powers.
The vacancy in the Ringgold County Supervisors' office was filled Tuesday, according to the Ringgold
county auditor, Kim O'MAILIA. Barbara BOWER of Mount Ayr was appointed to fill the vacancy of Lloyd BEDIER'S seat.
Four Mount Ayr Community high school senior FFA members combined to have a gold medal entry in the farm management contest
at the state FFA convention in Des Moines. The team of Tony MERCER, Landi McFARLAND, Sheryl DOLECHECK and Holly MEESTER
placed fourth in the state in the contest of 76 teams taking place.
Kyle FORD, Nick JOHNSON, Jeff BURGHER, Jacque BAKER,
Daniel STULL and Brad WILSON were the six new members inducted into the Parnassus Chapter of the National Honor Society
at the annual induction ceremony at the high school.
