According to barbecue organizers at the annual Ayr Days celebration last weekend, over 1,800 came through the
lines to be served Saturday night. Crowds much larger than that were on hand for the hour long parade Saturday afternoon.
Members of the Scottish Highlanders from the University of Iowa joined to march in the Ayr Days parade and presented a
concert of pipe and drum music as part of the day's Scottish flavor.
The only doctor on staff at the Ringgold County Hospital who is still delivering babies, Dr. Hema PATEL, for the
present has delivered her last baby at the RCH. Dr. PATEL reports she would take up deliveries again when she
could get some support from other physicians who also would like to deliver babies.
Robet and Mary McCREARY will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a card shower. They were married
on Sept. 20, 1942.
Jacqueline SCHOLTEN of Winterset, daughter of Clifford and Anne SCHOLTEN, and John THOMPSON of Brownville, TX, son
of Max and JoAnn BUCKNER of Mount Ayr, were maried Aug. 1 at the Winterset First United Presbyterian Church. The
couple will reside in Brownsville, TX where they both will be teaching.
Juliane DeMOTT, daughter of Lanny and Jan DeMOTT of Beford, and Matthew DAUGHTON, son of Bill and Nancy DAUGHTON of
Kellerton, were married June 6 at the Lexington Lodge in Beford. After their marriage, the couple will reside on a
farm north of Kellerton.
