Between 600 and 700 citizens attended the public meeting on the Mount Ayr school building situation last Thursday night in
the gym. Small groups of those attending came up with options for what to do with the deteriorating building including the
razing of the 1912 building, using the 1936 portion of the building for a junior high and constructing new facilities
to house the elementary and high school classes. In the meantime the 4-H girls building at the fairgrounds has been
converted to facilities for the elementary students.
Chief Master Sergeant Ivan C. BEEDE, son of Mrs. Jessie CORLL of Kellerton, received a meritorious service medal
for outstanding duty performance. He is serving with NATO headquarters in Izmir, Turkey.
