ASCS awards for 1978 were presented at an awards dinner held Feb. 7 in Mount Ayr. The county ASC committee accepted the
first place award in the state of Iowa for set aside program participation in 1978. Donald THOMAS was presented a 25 year
service award. Ted RICKER, Jr. was presented a pin for 20 years of service and Gerald BAKER was presented with an award
and service pin for his 20 years of service.
A news Ringgold county engineer has been hired. He is Steven W. AKES, who has most recently been employed by Yonker
Construction Co. of Waukee.
Two MACHS freshmen are among those receiving gold key awards in the annual Brandeis Southwest Iowa Regional Scholastic
art exhibition. They are George HUNT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvis HUNT of Redding, and Tammi YOUNG, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul KASPER of Sun Valley Lake. Mrs. Diana LARSON is the MACHS art instructor.
MACHS FHA will be observing national FHA Hero week. Officers of the chapter include Marlene SCOTT, advisor; Helen BOESE,
president; Betty GREEN, secretary; Delores MONDAY, treasurer; Sandy WEEDA, parliamentarian; Denise JOBE, recreation
chairman; Ellen McALEXANDER, projects chairman; Susan EASON, music chairman; Mary BRAND, district office; Colleen
CONLEY, historian; and Shelly WILKINS, public relations.
Shelley COLLIER, junior forward for MACHS girls basketball team, was named to the Tall Corn all-conference first team by
conference coaches.
