Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence RYCHNOVSKY of Diagonal were recognized as winners in the Ringgold County Soil Conservation
district conservation achievement program when the RCSC held the annual award meeting Dec. 8. Harriet LONG, district
clerk for the past 12 years, waas presented a plaque for her dedicated service to the district.
The MAC school district has called for a straw vote for Dec. 27 to give voters in the district a chance to express
themselves regarding school site alternatives. At a meeting Monday the school board signed a conditional agreement with
Duane and Iona TRIGGS for the purchase of approximately 30 acres east of Mount Ayr.
The city of Kellerton faces a far-reaching program of repair and maintenance to bring its water distribution system
up to state standards. Kellerton officials recently met with the Iowa Dept. of Environmental Quality to discuss the issue.
A quartet of Ringgold county young people -- John ALLEN, Jayne FERGUSON, Grace BRADLEY and Allen TRIGGS -- has been
entertaining groups arOund the area with a wide range of vocal selections.
The first religious service in the Elk Chapel Interdenominational community building, since restoration was started during
the U. S. bicentennial year, was held Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. STREETER of Allerton who
delivered a Christmas message. Elk Chapel is located 15 miles east of Mount Ayr on Highway 2.
