The Ringgold County Board of Supervisors hired a new county engineer this week. Thomas W. SNYDER of Worthington MN will be
taking the county engineer's post here effective November 1. SNYDER will take the place of Steve AKES, who left the
employment here to accept ___.
A gravel truck struck a dairy herd being moved across a county road, killing six cows and injuring 14 more of the 37-herd in
an accident seven miles south of Mount Ayr Friday morning.
Carl RIGGS, Harold WEBB and W. H. (Bill) BARNES are opening an office for Riggs, Webb and Barnes Realty in the former
MYERS plumbing building. The KLEJCH Insurance Agency, established by Norman and Doris KLEJCH, will also be opening in
the same building.
An electrical fire in the attic at the Clinton Motel in Mount Ayr meant the loss of about three square feet of burned
insulation when an electrical short apparently started the fire about 9:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8. The area around a
point where several wires cross seemed to be the only part affected by the fire.
The Kellerton water town boasts a new coat of paint these days and the community symbol of a horseshoe is painted over
the town name.
Pat HENDERSON was elected as reporter of the state Office Education Association of Iowa at the fall conference held in
Des Moines. HENDERSON is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milt HENDERSON of Mount Ayr and is currently employed at the
Mount Ayr Record-New part-time through the senior Office Education program at the Mount Ayr Community high school
