Mr. Verdon W. PAYNE will assume his duties as extension director of Ringgold county tomorrow (Friday). Mr. PAYNE
succeeds Richard FRANKLIN, who resigned recently to accept a similar position in Cerro Gordo county, with headquarters
in Mason City.
Merle DRAKE, who in May of this year was selected as the first place winner in an Americanism contest, sponsored locally
by the American Legion Axuiliary, has been awarded state honors on his essay. Merle is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren
DRAKE and is a 14-year-old freshman at Mount Ayr school.
The marriage of Colleen MOFFATT, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Elnora FINLEY of Mount Ayr, and Alan C. TRACY, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. TRACY of Roland, was solemnized on Saturday, August 1, in the Methodist church in Mount Ayr.
Induction Call No. 29 [Korean War] for Ringgold county is for three young men to be delivered in Des Moines on Thursday, September 18.
Louise WALKER and Janice HEGGS, of the Busy Workers 4-H Club, will represent Ringgold county in the demonstration contest at
the Iowa State Fair, after having been selected as the county's top girls' demonstration team in the contest held
August 8 and 9 in Mount Ayr.
The fifteenth annual Ringgolder reunion is being held Thursday in Mount Ayr. The business meeting of the Ringgold County
Historical Society will be held at 10 o'clock this morning in the assembly room of the courthouse.
Miss Ferna LEEPER will be in Mount Ayr Thursday, Friday and Saturday to conduct Ironrite Automatic Ironer demonstrations during
the Ringgold County Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DAILEY of Gilboa, IL announce the engagement of their daughter, Delores Mae to James SKINNER, SN of
the United States Navel Training Station, Great Lakes, IL, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen SKINNER of Mount Ayr. A date has
not yet been set for the wedding.
