Theatre Group's original production, which ran for three performances last week The chorus was directed by Martha
LANDPHAIR and accompanied by Sherri HYMBAUGH.
The hospital is seeking to fill at least two family practice physician
positions at the Mount Ayr Medical Clinic. Dr. William SO was required to end his practice at the clinic in late November
since that is when his work visa expired. Dr. Ramesh ASHWATHNARAYN will be leaving at the end of the year.
Work is continuing on the project to develop a working 1930 farms, community and bed and breakfast hosting site at the former
Lesanville, west of Mount Ayr. Newly moved to the site of the Ramsey Farm at Lesanville project is the AXTELL house,
which will be located across the road east of the Lesanville buildings to serve as a bed and breakfast site. Also in
place is the foundation for a church to be moved to the site.
Department of Human Services director Jessie RASMUSSEN held
a conference call with media representatives to explore innovative ways to preserve and improve services in 40 of Iowa's
least populated counties, including Ringgold county. "There structuring of our field offices is driven by two factors,"
stated RASMUSSEN. "One is a significant reduction of resources. Second is a commitment to make sure the neediest and most
vulnerable Iowans continue to receive the help they need."
Hazel TAYLOR of Mount Ayr was the winner of the decorated
mini Christmas trees given away as a door prize at Cards, Etc.'s open house. On the tree were several bonus ornaments
containing discounts on card purchases.
Prizes were awarded in the first annual
lighted Christmas parade which was part of the Saturday night activities in Mount Ayr. First place and a $25 prize went
to the float of Fred and Mary SHIELDS. Second place and a $15 prize went to the NAPA float. Third prize and a $10 prize
went to both the SCHAEFER Excavating and Legion Auxiliary Post 172 floats. There were 17 entries in the parade
sponsored by Ringgold County Tourism.
Diagonal Community high school presented Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"
in a dinner theater format in Diagonal Saturday night. The production, directed by Shaun KNIEP, featured a large
cast.
Three seniors are wrestling for the Mount Ayr Community Raider wrestling squad this year. They include Russell
REED, Blake HAUGLAND and Brian FOOKEN. HAUGLAND has had a great start to the year, winning at the CD tourney.
