Fans from both Mount Ayr Community and Clarke Community school districts joined cheerleaders
and the teams in standing together around the track before the opening football game Friday night to show support for good
character duringA merican Character Week and support for the United States of America as the anniversary of the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks nears.
The colors were advanced by the Mount Ayr American Legion and Sons of the American Legion
groups while the Mount Ayr Community high school band played the "National Anthem."

Repair and Savanna Sky held their ribbon cuttings recently. Tim BURTON'S automotive repair business is located in the old
Bill SICKELS Garage on Highway 2 and 169 in Mount Ayr. Jeremy NEWTON has his landscaping business at 305 E. Monroe in Mount
Ayr.
An almost perfect sportsmanship rating was achieved by the MountAyr Community boys baseball team this summer, according
to the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The ratings for coaches, players and spectators were all in the top 10 percent
of the state. The rating for coaches and spectators was a perfect 1.00 for the 23 games rated this summer. The rating for
players was 1.04, meaning that in just one game the umpires did not give the boys a perfect outstanding rating.
