A total of 13 Mount Ayr Community high school students are seeking to be named to the Mount Ayr Community
high school academic bowl team this year. Students trying out for the academic bowl team include Paul KILGORE,
Chip BRUNDAGE, Elisa JONES, Nick WEBB, Brittany ROE, Amy VARDAMAN, Jared TRULLINGER, Tyson DUKES, Julian GALLOWAY,
Anna WATSON, Kayren WATSON, Cody ROE and Joe HYNEK.
A decree bringing to a close the case between the Sun Valley Lake Association and developers of property at the lake
was filed in Ringgold county district court January 3. The lake association had sought ownership of "common area" around
the lake and several other items in the extended litigation on matters. The decree was signed December 30 by Judge
Darrell J. GOODHUE. The decree gives the Sun Valley Lake Association free and clear title to areas around the lake
development at Ellston found by the court to be "common areas."
A team from the Diagonal Community high school has won first place in their region in the Stock Market Game, sponsored
by the Iowa council on Economic Education. The gam ran to 10 weeks. At the end of that time, the team that consisted
of Nick NELSON, Justin HANSEN, Terry YOUNG and Tom SHIFLETT, finished in first place with an ending balance of
$105,225.00 or a profit of $5,225.00. they also finished in sixth place in the state.
